Seagate reduces the warranty of HDDs from 5 years at only 1 year

Seagate follows the example given last week by Western Digital and reduces the warranty of hard disks for desktop and notebook systems from 5 years to 3 years and in some cases only 1 year.

Seagate reduces the warranty of HDDs


The announcement of the decision taken by Seagate comes after Western Digital lowered the warranty period for HDDs range Caviar Green, Blue and Scorpio Blue Caviar from 3 years to 2 years.

The new warranty policy practiced for the Seagate HDDs enter into effect from on 31 December 2011 and is commented by the company as an adjustment to consumer electronics industry trends.
