Android activations reaches 500 million right before the launch of iPhone 5

Android, the operating system for mobile devices developed by Google, has reached a historical number, 500 million activations, the very day that Apple present it's most awaited product of the year for the electronics market, the new iPhone 5.

On the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, Andy Rubin, head of Google's mobiles dedicated division announced on his Twitter account that they exceeded 500 million Android activations, an increase of 1.3 million per day. The number is an improvement compared to the 900,000 daily activations in June, or the 850,000 activations per day in February this year.
